A rare, highly specialized rapid-dwelling cichlid with reduced buoyancy that often hops and rests on the substrate like a goby. Its name means “stone-bearer,” referring to its habit of carrying pebbles when constructing a nest.
📝 CARE NOTES
Requires pristine, highly oxygenated water with powerful filtration and strong current, along with calmer resting areas. Use fine sand, smooth pebbles, and rounded rocks to recreate its natural river habitat. It is highly sensitive to deteriorating water quality, so frequent partial water changes are essential.
