An excellent community fish for peaceful tetras, rasboras, Corys, dwarf cichlids, and other non-aggressive species. Keep in a group of at least 6, preferably 8–10 or more. Males may display toward one another without usually causing injury.

Keep in a fully cycled aquarium with clean, stable water and gentle filtration. Provide plants, driftwood, shaded areas, and open swimming space. A dark substrate and subdued lighting help enhance its rosy coloration and contrasting white fin tips.
